The Honey House

Our first complete cob house; design, build and teach!

Check out our step-by-step 'How To' movie below, showing just how we did it...

The Honey House is a three room tiny home at Spirit Pine Sanctuary, Southern California.  We designed, funded and built the structure over 3 months in Spring 2015 with an amazing team of apprentices, assistants and helpers.  The cottage was designed with a sculptural lounge, cool summer bedroom and bright winter loft space. The budget for the project was around $1500.

It was a physically demanding work of endurance, as you can see in our 'How To' movie above.  However it was a life changing event for me, and perhaps many of the other people involved.  A chance to truly create, invent, inspire and connect.

I returned to Spirit Pine a full year after the day we broke ground on the project to find the house beautifully finished off and peacefully occupied.  Thank you to Betty and her angelic team, Tautacho for his endless wisdom, and Marie Ann and Clint; the special new home-makers who make our entire endeavor worthwhile.  (Marie Ann has an unusual sensitivity to electromagnet waves and this cob house is the only home in which she can find peace!  Another testament to the wonderful qualities of earthen homes.
